Is Devop a Real Job or Not
DevOpsI have seen this debate in the French community, I'm not sure that it's a real question somewhere else, but here is the idea. DevOps is a culture, a mindset and not about specific task or job, DevOps is about improvement not about tools.
Yeah, it's a real job #
- DevOps is a new word, the meaning of it can shift. Nobody owns the word and can say this mean this (well, in France we have a national institution that actually does that)
DevOps was not strictly defined, it's mean different thing to different people.

- Some Job board has DevOps queries. If someone search for a DevOps, therefor DevOps is a job.
- Who care, it's what I do for living, call it how you like, I'll call it DevOps.
Maybe not #
- Other words with specific task exist, like CloudOps, SRE, a more task oriented words.
- DevOps it's about continuous improvement
As you can guess, I'm not passionate about this debate, but I know people who are. I'll be curious if this debate is only French.
